Craft #1: Dot Paint a Mandala on a Oui Jar
My favorite thing to do with empty glass jars is to dot paint mandalas. Here’s a step by step guide to doing just that:
Follow These Steps to Dot Paint Your Own Mandala On An Empty Oui Jar
Step 1: First you have to remove the labels from the jars. I’ve found that it is easier to get them off cleanly while running hot water on them. Then I wash them in the dishwasher. The labels were harder to remove when I washed them in the dishwasher first. It still wasn’t difficult, but it left a sticky residue that I wiped off with some alcohol. That’s an extra step, which means extra time.
Step 2: Decide on a design. I found a free printable mandala online at here at donteatthepaste.com. I reduced the size to 2” X 2” or somewhere close to that to make it fit on the jar. Then, I taped the image on the inside of the jar.
Step 3: I used the template as a guide to make my dots. I got my dotting tools from Amazon, but you can make your own by sticking a pin in the eraser of a pencil. (Use what you have and experiment with different size dots) I used regular acrylic paint or leftover paint from various craft kits my kids have gotten. You have to play around with the best consistency and techniques. I’m still not very good at it, but it is fun and a good stress reliever.
Step 4: My dots never end up just like the printed image, but it helps me stay somewhat even and gives me an idea of the shapes and sizes to use.
Step 5: Keep adding dots until you are happy with your design. Let it dry.
Step 6: Once the paint is dry, remove the image from inside the jar and Viola! Say Oui to a cute little jar. You can spray the paint with a sealer. Keep eating yogurt and saving jars because there are so many other things you can do with these!
Craft #2: Use Acrylic Paint and Sharpie Markers to Make a LEGO Man Oui Jar
I poured acrylic paint in a jar, covered it with Press-N-Seal wrap, and shook it until the inside was covered. I propped it upside down on some toothpicks on a paper plate to let the paint dry. Then I colored a face on the outside with a permanent marker. I tried to make it look like a LEGO man. I used this as a utensil holder for my little Bud’s LEGO birthday party (Read all about it!). Unfortunately, glass and concrete do not mix 🙁

FAQs For Oui Jars
Besides “What can you do with empty Oui jars?” there are more frequently asked questions that I’d like to share the answers to.
FAQ #1: Can you make candles out of Oui jars?
Of course you can! Check out how JayDee uses Oui jars to make scented soy candles.
FAQ #2: Can you bake in Oui jars?
There are some people who have baked in Oui jars without any problems. If you choose to do so, you are doing it at your own risk. Make sure there aren’t any cracks in the jars and that you’ve removed the label completely.
Better yet, use these jars for the perfect single-serve, no-bake desserts.
FAQ #3: How do you remove Oui jar labels?
You may try all kinds of goops and goos to remove the labels. I found that if you just run hot water over the jar while removing the label, it comes off fairly easily. If any sticky glue residue is left behind, you can use rubbing alcohol to remove it.
