10 Best Gifts For Nintendo Switch Fans of All Ages

Hey Mama!

We love video games in our family. My husband and I are from the Nintendo generation and we were happy to begin playing with our kids. The Nintendo Switch has been an awesome game console for us. It’s always easy to pick gifts during the holidays by choosing something that is Switch related. Let me give you my top gifts list for Nintendo Switch fans.

1. The Nintendo Switch

First of all, you have to have a Nintendo Switch. It is an investment, but if you and your family love video games as much as we do, you will not regret it! Luckliy, I won our Switch in a sweepstakes. It sat in the box for a few months and then the pandemic hit. Our Switch literally saved our sanity while we were isolating at home. So, I am very fond of this gaming system.

I’m not going to give you all the details and everything that is possible with the Switch because there are many out there who have done a great job of that already.  Check out the Nintendo Switch review on pcmag.com.

2. Or a Nintendo Switch Lite

The Nintendo Switch Lite plays the same games, costs less, and is perfect for the person who doesn’t care to have the capability to play on a big screen.

The Nintendo Switch Lite is the Nintendo DS/Nintendo GameBoy version of the full Switch console. It can only be used as a handheld gaming system. The Switch and the Switch Lite play the same games

3. The Best Nintendo Switch Games

It’s frustrating to pay $60 for a new game, only to realize that it isn’t any fun. So, here’s our family-tested list of the best Switch games (with a couple that are highly rated that are on our Christmas List).

1. Pokemon Violet Our son is obsessed with all things Pokemon, including every video game he can get his 7-year-old hands on. He is anxiously awaiting this game for Christmas.

2. Minecraft This is a great game for all ages. But, be warned. If you get motion sickness, you may want to be the one in control of the camera movements. Personally, I love the engineering aspect and enjoy playing in creative mode.

3. Smash Brothers This is just a straight-up fighting game. But, the characters are from various games and have very different powerups. It’s fun to play as different characters just to learn their best moves. You also get to pick your battlegrounds, which are scenes from different games.

4. Zelda: Breath of the Wild This game is awesome.  So awesome, in fact, that I don’t mind my kid sitting in front of a screen playing video games.

Check out my review of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on my friend’s blog, OneLifeSeveralStories.com.

5. Super Mario Brothers U Deluxe This is my favorite.  This game reminds me of the original Super Mario Brothers, so it’s like a throwback to my childhood. I actually wrote a review about this game on Fupping.com. It is definitely a great starter game and a game that families can play together.

6. Super Mario Odyssey This was our first 3D game we played on the Switch. There was a little bit of a learning curve getting used to the motions and views. You can play with two players, but one person gets to be Mario and the other person is the hat (Cappy). We enjoyed playing this one together as a family.

7. Animal Crossing: New Horizons I have not played this game, yet. This is the game our daughter wants for her birthday. But it has amazing reviews, so I’m fairly confident that it will be a fun game to play. I’ve heard that it is addicting, so maybe I shouldn’t play it 🙂

4. Game Storage is a Necessity

You have to have something to store all of those games in. On our list this year is a large capacity storage case like this BOVKE 96 Slots Game Holder Storage Case. We don’t have that many games, yet. But, I need a better storage system than just a layer of game cartridges laying on the entertainment center. This case holds each game card in place and will be great for traveling.

5. Extra Joy-Cons Allow for More Players

There are many options to choose from and of course, you can get off-brand Joy-Cons. With the Switch’s capability of up to four players, it’s always handy to have extra Joy-Cons around. It’s also handy for when you forget to charge one set and they die mid-leap when you’re about to complete the hardest level.

6. Accessories and Storage

Our daughter is getting the Nintendo Switch Lite for her birthday this year. This Orzly Switch Lite Accessories Bundle comes highly rated and will allow her to carry her system wherever she goes. I really like the screen protector and all the extras.

7. Nintendo eShop Gift Card

You can’t go wrong with Nintendo eShop Gift Card. There are a lot of options for how much money you can put on the card. This money can then be used to buy new games and download them to the Switch, without having to have a game cartridge.

8. 2022 Switch Sports Accessories Bundle

Complete transparency here: We don’t play sports games, so we don’t have these accessories. However, I know that there are a lot of people who use these and love them.  So, while I haven’t personally used these Switch Sports Accessories, if you love to play sports games, these will help you play with more natural motions.

9. Nintendo Switch Online 12 Month Membership

With the online membership, you can play online with friends and family and strangers around the globe. You’ll also have access to free games, like a lot of original NES games.

10. Gaming Chair

The X Rocker Pro Series H3 Black Leather Vibrating Floor Video Gaming Chair with Headrest, High Tech Audio, Wireless Capacity, and Ergonomic Back Support is a beast of a gaming chair. Now, this is what you need if you REALLY want to go all out and create a comfortable gaming environment. We do not have this chair, but look at those reviews! Maybe I’ll put this on the Christmas Wish List. Or maybe we will continue to snuggle on the couch and enjoy our family time.
